Statute of limitations on debt vary by state and there are complexities beyond that, particularly with regard to credit card debt, so you may want to consult a consumer attorney if you have questions. Something very important to note: Failure to show up in court could result in a summary judgment against you — which can lead to garnishment. So it’s in your best interest to appear in court. You can bring your credit reports to support your case. Again, a consumer attorney could provide more help. Some more info here:
